Students from Rivertree Christian Church have partnered with Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio to help change the life of a hard-working family in need in our community. In an effort to provide these students with a hands-on opportunity, Habitat for Humanity ECO has developed an educational program entitled HABITITUS, where these students learn all aspects of the Habitat ministry through tangible activities and experiences. Each month features a different part of the Habitat ministry, from learning basic carpentry and home maintenance skills, to volunteering at Habitat’s ReStore and learning about financial management. Just like Habitat homeowners and volunteers, students learn through engagement.
In addition to learning about Habitat, students will be participating in the 2016 Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build. This build will bring together congregation members across Islamic, Jewish, and Christian faiths to help a family in Stark county realize their dream of home ownership. Rivertree has committed to raising $12,500 towards the $50,000 house sponsorship. By clicking the DONATE button you can support these students in their endeavor.
In Support of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio
As a grassroots Christian housing ministry serving Stark, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio is driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
