Family and Current Housing
Kashari, originally from Canton, Ohio, is dedicated to providing a stable home for her daughter, Jerzee. Growing up in a single-parent household within government housing, Kashari, as an adultand expectant mother, also sought government housing for herself. In pursuit of improved housing and job opportunities, she relocated to South Carolina on the recommendation of family and friends in the area. However, realizing the need for more support in raising her daughter, Kashari decided to move back to Canton, where her mother and grandmother could offer assistance. Unfortunately, the private rental she initially occupied had various structural issues, with safety being a significant concern due to unlocked windows and a prior break-in. Following this incident, she opted to reside with her grandmother to save money while participating in the Habitat homeownership program. Currently, Kashari and Jerzee share a room in a 2-bedroom apartment, with Kashari motivated by a desire to provide her daughter with stability. Her decision to join the Habitat program stems from the belief that it is the best choice for ensuring a secure future for Jerzee. Having been aware of the Habitat program for years, Kasharirecently felt prepared to apply. Engaging in homebuyer educationalclasses focused on financial wellness, home maintenance, and essential topics has equipped her with the confidence and knowledge required for homeownership. Kashari actively supportsand encourages fellow partner families in their journey towards homeownership, often sharing her faith as a source of strength.

A Bright Future
Alongside her commitment to the Habitat partnership, Kashari works in the local school district as a teacher’s aide and dance instructor. Passionate about working with young people, she aspires to open a dance studio, where she can teach classes full-time. When describing her daughter Jerzee, Kashari emphasizes her humor, energy, rambunctious nature, and remarkable talent. Kashari, despite her continuous efforts at work and in raising her child, feels unable to get ahead in life. Habitat will provide the Dove family with a foundation to reach their full potential. She eagerly anticipates the day when they can turn on music in their own home and freely dance together, fostering a joyful atmosphere in the house she will soon call her own.
