  • Family and Current Housing

Ashley has spent her life in Massillon, Ohio, and is now raising her children in the same community she calls home. Over the years, her family has faced significant change, including the end of her marriage and multiple housing transitions, all in pursuit of safety and stability.

After her divorce, Ashley moved her children into a rental while rebuilding financially. Just as they began to settle in, the landlord sold the home, giving the family only three weeks to move. This upheaval came during an especially difficult time, as Ashley's son, Luca, was recovering from surgery to amputate his remaining leg. Born with bilateral fibular hemimelia, Luca has already lost his first leg at just one year old. With limited options, Ashley and her children moved in with her mother. Today, nine people share a three-bedroom home.

Ashley is thrilled at the opportunity to own a safe, affordable, and accessible Habitat home — one that will allow Luca to gain independence as he learns to walk with prosthetic legs. This home represents the stability the family has been seeking after years of uncertainty.

Since joining Habitat, Ashley has completed sweat equity hours and graduated from the homebuyer education semester in fall 2025, gaining skills in financial literacy, home and lawn maintenance, and personal development.

    A Bright Future

Ashley works full-time at Gojo Industries as a credit and collections coordinator and works part-time at Kraus' Pizza, doing whatever it takes to provide for her family. Outside of work, the family treasures simple moments together — swimming, family game nights, and spending time outdoors. They are a close-knit bunch. Audra expresses herself through art and music, Stella and Layna thrive in competitive dance, Joshua pours his energy into sports, and Luca radiates joy, determination, and unstoppable spirit.

For Ashley, this home means more than walls and a roof. It means independence. It means consistency. It means a place where her children can finally exhale, feel safe, and just be kids. After years of uncertainty and uprooting, this Habitat home represents the stability Ashley has been working so hard to build — and a future her family can truly grow into.
