FAMILY AND CURRENT HOUSING
There is no doubt that stability is a major benefit of owning a home, and for many future Habitat homeowners, stability is something they deeply long for. This is certainly the case for
Monika Robinson and her family. Monika and her daughter Casey have spent years moving from place to place and are ready to settle down somewhere they can permanently call home.
Currently, Monika and Casey live in a private rental in Massillon that is suffering from many structural issues. Major electrical problems have led to damaged electronics, an inability to
use the stove, total lack of power in the dining room, and even electrical shock. Plumbing problems also plague the home, often resulting in a backed-up sewer, filling the house with an
unpleasant smell. Not only are these issues inconvenient, they pose serious safety concerns.
Seven years ago, Monika’s close friend and co-worker became a Habitat homeowner. When Monika recalled her friend’s positive experience in the program, she decided to follow this
path toward building a brighter future for her family. Monika’s two daughters, Clark and Casey, are her pride and joy. Clark is a young adult currently enrolled in college at Kent State where
she is studying to become a Health Education Specialist. Sixteen-year-old Casey is both a hard-working high school student and employee at Burger King. The girls’ father passed away ten years ago, but Monika is certain he would be as proud of them as she is. Soon Clark and
Casey will have a good reason to be proud of their mother as she completes the Habitat program and becomes a new homeowner!

A PERFECT FIT
Monika recently selected a lot in Massillon and is eagerly waiting to begin work on her future home. Having already proven to be a tremendously hard worker by completing her sweat equity requirements, she is sure to be an asset on the worksite.
In addition to helping on other construction sites and rehab homes, Monika has also completed Habitat’s House2Home
education series from which she’s learned basic home maintenance and how to be financially healthy. Along with raising her girls and completing the Habitat sweat equity requirements each week, Monika works hard to provide for her family. For fourteen years she has been employed as a nurse’s assistant at Legends Care Center. Soon, her hard work will pay off and her dream of securing a stable place for her family to live will become reality. “My experience so far in this program has been wonderful and I still can’t believe it,” said Monika. “I have bounced around so many years and I’m just ready to settle down.”
