Family and Current Housing
Tiffany and Josh have been living in a private rental apartment complex for the past two years. Unfortunately, the apartment has several issues, including leaking faucets in the kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, the kitchen floor is glued down and moves when walked on, posing a safety hazard. There are also electrical challenges, such as frequent breaker tripping and unusable outlets in the living room. Dealing with a mice infestation has been particularly challenging. Safety concerns are paramount, with car break-ins and frequent fights in the complex prompting police and ambulance visits. The environment is especially difficult for their toddler, Jacelyn, who is currently being evaluated for ADHD and Autism. Despite applying for public housing, no units are available in their area. Tiffany’s previous application to the Habitat ECO homeownership program was denied due to debt. However, after addressing her debt and increasing her income, she reapplied and was accepted. Currently, Tiffany and Josh are actively participating in mandatory homebuyer educational classes, focusing on financial wellness and home maintenance. They are committed to equipping themselves with essential knowledge as they embark on their journey towards homeownership through the Habitat program.
A Bright Future
Tiffany, Josh, and Jacelyn cherish spending quality time with their extended family, often venturing to the park or taking leisurely walks together. Movie nights are a favorite pastime for them as well. Tiffany serves as a clinical receptionist at the Canton Department of Public Health, while Josh works as a cook at Roosters. They eagerly anticipate their move to Massillon, Josh’s hometown, where they’ll reside in their new Habitat home. This transition is especially timely as Jacelyn will soon begin preschool. Their goal is to enroll Jacelyn in an integrated preschool program that offers speech and occupational therapy support, ensuring she receives the best possible education. Securing a safe, affordable home through Habitat is a pivotal step towards stability for the family. Beyond that, they look forward to having a place they can proudly call home, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with security and pride.
