Family and Current Housing
After years of transition, future homeowner Breanna Taylor is ready to settle down in a permanent home for herself and her daughter, Mackenzi. Several years ago Breanna was living in Section 8 housing but changes in her personal life and financial situation resulted in her moving back in with her mother. At the time of application, Breanna and her daughter were living with Breanna’s mother in a three bedroom rental home. There are now seven other people living in the house which makes it very overcrowded for Breanna and Mackenzi who have to occasionally resort to sleeping in the livingroom. Several years ago Breanna tried to apply for the Habitat homeownership program but was unfortunately denied for having considerable debt. Rather than becoming discouraged, Breanna worked hard to correct some of her debt and credit issues, reapplied, and was accepted into the program in January of 2016. Although things are less than ideal right now, Breanna and her daughter enjoy spending time together having movies nights, watching cartoons, and playing outside at the park. Soon, the mother-daughter duo will enjoy life in a home of their own. A Bright Future
Although Breanna can sometimes be a bit shy, she is a hard worker and has already invested numerous hours of sweat equity on worksites, at ReStore, and in education classes. In addition to completing the weekly Habitat requirements, Breanna is currently employed with Midwest Health Services, an organization that provides person-centered, communitybased support to people with physical and intellectual developmental disabilities. She has worked there for three years and was recently promoted to a home manager. Breanna understands that for now she is making a short term sacrifice of time and energy to invest in her long term goal of homeownership. And soon it will all pay off and she and Mackenzi will have their own space to enjoy for years to come.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio
As a grassroots Christian housing ministry serving Stark, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio is driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
