Join Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, the City of Canton Police Department, and Southeast Canton clergy for a special Aging in Place Home Repair project in southeast Canton. This initiative supports longtime southeast Canton resident Brenda Smalls, who inherited her childhood home from her late mother. The house, in her family since the early 1970s, is filled with memories—Brenda raised her twin sons there and cherishes the stability it has provided her family over the decades. Now 67, Brenda is finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the necessary maintenance on her beloved home. To help, Habitat for Humanity ECO is partnering with Canton Police Officers and southeast Canton pastors, who will volunteer their time and skills to complete essential exterior repairs. These include soffit and spouting repairs, installing a new front door and windows, and adding a porch railing to improve accessibility and ensure Brenda can safely enter and exit her home. Brenda is deeply rooted in her neighborhood and hopes to remain in her home for years to come—preserving the legacy of a southeast Canton family that has helped anchor the community for generations.
