Family and Current Housing
Brittany grew up in rental housing and experienced frequent moves throughout her childhood, which made it difficult to feel settled. That experience shaped her desire to provide a more stable environment for her own daughter, Nevaeh. Currently, Brittany and Nevaeh, live in a subsidized apartment complex in western Stark County. Unfortunately, their living situation presents several challenges. Their apartment has ongoing maintenance issues, including windows that do not lock securely and noticeable air leaks around the doors, making it difficult to regulate indoor temperatures. The ceiling in the bathroom is sagging due to water damage from the unit above, and there are persistent electrical issues. A recent flooding incident in the complex has also raised concerns about mold, further impacting their well-being in their home. After hearing about the Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio Homeownership Program from a friend who is a Habitat homeowner, Brittany was inspired to apply. She saw the opportunity not only as a way to achieve homeownership but as a path toward long-term independence. Since joining the program, Brittany has been dedicated and hardworking. She has been actively completing her sweat equity hours and recently finished her homebuyer education classes. These classes have equipped her with essential knowledge on budgeting, financial wellness, and home maintenance—skills she is eager to put into practice as a future homeowner.
A Bright Future
Brittany is currently employed as a scheduler at Aultman Deuble Heart and Vascular Hospital, where she has worked for the past two years. She takes great pride in her role and values the stability her job provides for her and her daughter. Outside of work, Brittany and Nevaeh cherish their time together. Nevaeh is a bright and spirited young girl with a big personality. She loves to dance and competes regularly, showcasing her creativity and determination. She also enjoys reading and has a vivid imagination that shines through in everything she does. As a single mother, Brittany is committed to creating a safe, loving, and stable environment for Nevaeh. She dreams of a home where they can both feel secure—not just financially, but emotionally and physically. For Brittany, a Habitat home means more than just a roof over their heads. It represents a fresh start, a place where Nevaeh can grow up with confidence, and where lasting memories can be made. Her ultimate goal is to give her daughter every opportunity to succeed, and with the support of Habitat, that dream is within reach.
