FAMILY AND CURRENT HOUSING
When Rhonda and Quez initially applied to the Habitat program, they were living in a rental home that was in horrible condition. When the family first moved in, they discovered that the home had bedbugs, a broken furnace, and faulty plumbing that resulted in sewage backing up into the basement. The windows throughout the home did not seal properly and one half of the home had faulty electric that would occasionally go out. The couple did their best to make repairs at their own cost in addition to paying monthly rent. More trouble soon arose, however, when their landlord was incarcerated. Although they continued to pay rent to the landlord’s family, it was not applied to the home’s mortgage and soon the property was foreclosed on. Knowing they needed to find a safe, affordable, and decent housing option, Rhonda and Quez applied and were accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program. Although they received a new landlady at their rental, the problems continued so the couple decided to move out while waiting for work to begin on their new Habitat home. Their current rental is owned by a relative and is in better condition, however, the couple longs for the day they have a house to call their own for many years to come.
A PERFECT FIT
Throughout their time in the partnership, Quez and Rhonda have faced some financial setbacks and other challenges, but they haven’t let those things distract them from their goal of homeownership. In fact, the couple has worked together as a team to complete numerous hours of sweat equity on worksites, at ReStore, and in House2Home education classes. Along with completing Habitat requirements and raising their four children, both Rhonda and Quez work hard to financially provide for their family. Quez has been employed with Harry London Candies Inc. since 2012 and Rhonda works as a nurse’s assistant at Aultman Hospital. Soon, all their hard work will pay off and the Boles family will have a safe, decent, affordable home of their own! “A new home for the Boles family will mean everything to us,” Rhonda said.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio
As a grassroots Christian housing ministry serving Stark, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio is driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
